Flexible Impeller Kit 920-0001 09-1028B 18200 18-3077 877061 for Volvo Penta Yanmar Jabsco Johnson Sherwood Raw Water Pump 8 Blade 65 mm 50 mm Spline Drive — United States Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Raw water pump impeller kit for Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Jabsco, Johnson and Sherwood pumps, a cooling system service part with eight blades, 65 mm (2.56 in) diameter, 50 mm (1.97 in) width and a 15.8 mm (0.62 in) spline hub. It replaces 920-0001, 920-0001-P, 09-1028B and 18-3077, and the pack includes the impeller, the cover gasket and the O-ring. Shipped from our United States local warehouse.
The wide body on this impeller is what separates it from the smaller pumps in the same families. A 65 mm by 50 mm blade set moves the volume the D4 and D5 diesels and the Yanmar 4LH need at cruise, and it is the impeller that gets changed on engine hours rather than on symptoms.
Check the pump body casting number before ordering. The Volvo AD and AQAD series with pumps 844971 and 838522 take a 95 mm impeller and look similar from the outside.

Freshwater Lakes and Salt Water
| Where the Boat Runs | What It Does to the Impeller | Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Great Lakes and inland lakes | Silt and weed, little salt, blades last longer | Every second season or at 200 hours |
| Florida and Gulf salt water | Salt dries between trips, rubber hardens | Every season, flush after each trip |
| Northeast salt water, short season | Winter lay up sets the blades flat | Renew at spring commissioning |
| Pacific Northwest, cool water | Slow wear, but jelly and weed clog the strainer | Check the strainer every trip |
| River running with sand bars | Grit scores the wear plate | Inspect the plate at each service |
| Charter or long range cruising | High hours at cruise speed | Twice a season, on hours |
Winterizing and Spring Start
| Step | What To Do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flush the raw water side with fresh water | Salt and silt settle in the pump over winter |
| 2 | Drain the pump body and the hoses | Trapped water freezes and splits the cover |
| 3 | Leave the impeller out or renew it before storage | Blades take a set in one position |
| 4 | Grease the cover screw threads | They seize in the housing over winter |
| 5 | Bag the cover, gasket and O-ring together | Small seals go missing in a workshop |
| 6 | At launch, prime the pump before the first start | A dry start burns a new impeller |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Check the pump body casting number against the list, not just the engine model |
| 2 | Close the seacock and drain the raw water hose |
| 3 | Check the old impeller comes out whole, count the blades |
| 4 | Check the cam, the wear plate and the cover face for scoring |
| 5 | Clean the gasket and O-ring grooves of all old material |
| 6 | Grease the bore, fold the blades in the running direction and slide the impeller on square |
| 7 | Fit the new gasket and O-ring dry, tighten the cover evenly |
| 8 | Open the seacock, prime and check the exhaust water before getting under way |
