Product Overview
Exhaust water shutter flappers, a direct replacement part for the exhaust Y pipe on MerCruiser 4.3 litre V6 and 262 MAG sterndrives. The set is two shutters and four grommets, replacing MerCruiser 807166A2. It comes in a 90 mm x 100 mm x 150 mm box and weighs 281 g with packaging.
These are the rubber flaps in the Mercury MerCruiser V6 Y pipe. Exhaust pressure pushes them open when the engine runs, and they drop shut when it stops so water cannot run back up the exhaust into a cylinder.
The V6 sterndrive has one flap in each leg of the Y pipe, which is why the set is a pair rather than a single. The four grommets are the pivot bushes the flaps hang on, and they wear out at the same rate as the rubber.
Fitment is the 4.3 litre GM262 V6 in its 4.3L, 4.3LH, 4.3LX and 4.3LXH forms, plus the 262 MAG TBI Gen Plus. Check the model before ordering, because the V8 Y pipe takes a different shutter.
