Product Overview
Power trim bushing set, 4 x 23-99291T bushings for the MerCruiser R, MR and Alpha One sterndrives built from 1983 to 1990. This is the service part that takes the slack out of the trim ram mounting, it replaces MerCruiser 23-99291T and 23-99291 and crosses to GLM 26330, Sierra 18-2702-04 and Mallory 9-77000, and four bushings ship in the set at 170 g with packaging.
MerCruiser is the sterndrive brand of Mercury Marine, and Quicksilver is the name the same parts were sold under in the Mercury accessory range, so the 23-99291T number covers both.
The trim rams push the drive up and down and take the whole thrust of the leg against the water. The bushings are what those rams pivot in, and they are a wearing part: once the rubber or the sleeve gives up, the ram starts moving in its housing instead of moving the drive.
The symptoms show up as a drive that slaps when you come off plane, a trim gauge that wanders, or a leg that drops on its own overnight. A worn bushing will also let the ram chafe on the housing, which is where a cheap repair turns into a transom job.
All four go in as a set. Wear is never even across the four points, and fitting only the loose pair leaves the drive moving on the other two, so the set is the only way the job stays tight.
Fitment is by drive model and year. This set is for the R, MR and Alpha One drives from 1983 to 1990, the drives built before the Alpha One Gen II, and it does not fit the Gen II or the Bravo range. Check the model tag on the transom plate before ordering.
