6" Spark Plug Wire 0582135 0777703 18-8816-1 for Johnson Evinrude V4 V6 Crossflow Outboard 90-235 HP — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Spark plug wire for Johnson and Evinrude outboards, 6 in (152.4 mm) long, a single lead for one cylinder. It replaces 0582365, 0582134, 0582135 and 0777703, and crosses to Sierra 18-8816-1. Fits most V4 and V6 crossflow motors of the 1980s and 1990s plus the small two strokes listed below. Dispatched from our Australia local warehouse.
On these crossflow motors the leads run close together under a tight cowling, and a lead that has gone brittle causes misfires that look like a fuel fault. The usual giveaways are a rough idle that clears at speed, a plug that keeps fouling on one cylinder only, or a blue flash from the boot at dusk with the cowling off.
Replace the lead rather than trying to repair the boot, because the conductor inside these wires is a wound core and it does not take a crimp twice. If one lead has gone hard, look at the others on the same bank, they were fitted at the same time and see the same heat.

Construction
| Feature | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Kevlar core | Holds the conductor in place under vibration and heat |
| Stainless steel wound conductor | Keeps resistance stable, full spark energy at the plug |
| Silicone jacket and boots | Resists the heat soak under a cowling and does not go hard |
| RFI suppression | Protects ignition modules and electronics from interference |
| Stainless terminals | No corrosion at the plug and distributor ends |
Signs a Lead Has Failed
| Symptom | What It Points To |
|---|---|
| Miss at idle that clears at speed | Lead breaking down under load |
| One plug keeps fouling | Weak spark on that cylinder only |
| Blue flash at the boot in the dark | Insulation cracked, spark leaking to earth |
| Rough running in wet weather | Moisture tracking across a hard jacket |
| Radio noise through the VHF | Suppression core broken down |
| Motor cuts out when the cowling is fitted | Lead shorting against the block |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Disconnect the battery before touching the ignition |
| 2 | Note the firing order and route of the old lead before removal |
| 3 | Pull the boot by the boot, never by the wire |
| 4 | Check the plug terminal and the distributor cap post for corrosion |
| 5 | Route the new lead the same way, clear of the block and the flywheel |
| 6 | Push the boots fully home at both ends |
| 7 | Start the motor and check for arcing in the dark with the cowling off |
| 8 | Refit the cowling and confirm the lead is not trapped |
