Air filter element part for Yanmar 2GM, 3GM, 2YM and 3YM marine diesel engines, supplied in the original 13.5 cm housing size, replacing 128270-12540 and 128377-12530, plus Sierra 18-57703. It fits 2GM and 2GMF from 1980 to 1983, 2GM20 and 2GM20F from 1983 to 2005, 2YM15 from 2004 to 2015, and the 3GM, 3GM30 and 3YM series. Dispatched from our United Kingdom local warehouse.
The element sits in the engine mounted silencer housing on these small Yanmar diesels, which is why the part is often searched for as a silencer filter rather than an air filter. It is a pleated paper element, so it traps dust and salt laden air before the intake, and it is the cheapest thing on the engine to change.
A restricted element shows up as black smoke under load, harder starting, a drop in power at cruising revs, or a visibly dirty housing after service. Change it at the interval and sooner in dusty yards or on coastal moorings where salt air loads the paper quickly.
