Red decal sticker kit for the Mercury 9.9 HP two stroke outboard top cowl, replacing 12836A00, 37-12836A96 and 37-12836A94, and fitting the 1999 to 2006 cowls listed below. The kit is a precut decal set for one cowl, supplied with no trimming needed.

The 9.9 HP two stroke is the small Mercury that gets left on a mooring and trailered without a cover, so the cowl graphics are usually the first thing to go. This set is the red version used on the 1999 to 2006 cowls, and the colour has to match the original because half a cowl of new red against faded red looks worse than no decal at all.

The set is printed on white vinyl with a gloss clear laminate over the top, which protects it from UV, fuel spill and salt water. On a cowl being repainted it is the graphics that decide whether the job reads as a restoration or a respray.

Before You Buy

• Check the cowl number against the table, the pre 1999 9.9 HP cowl takes a different set
• Confirm the original graphics were red, the blue set is a separate part
• Compare the old decal against 12836A00, 37-12836A96 or 37-12836A94 before ordering
• Degrease the cowl and fit the decals wet so each piece can be slid into line with the cowl edges
• Squeegee from the centre out and peel the backing slowly at a low angle to avoid stretching the vinyl
• Let fresh paint cure for a week first, solvent under the adhesive will lift the graphic later
