Product Overview
Carburetor for the Tohatsu and Nissan 9.8 HP four stroke outboards, the fuel system part that bolts to the intake and meters fuel into the motor. It replaces Tohatsu 3DP-03100-2 and Nissan 3V2-03100-3, it also crosses to 3DP-03133-0, 3DN-03100-0 and 3V2-03100-2, and one carburetor ships in a 110 mm x 195 mm x 135 mm box at 622 g.
This is the 3V1 platform 9.8 HP four stroke, the same motor sold as the Tohatsu MFS9.8 and the Nissan NSF9.8. It covers the A2 and A3 variants from 2004 to 2014.
The carburetor on these motors is a single barrel downdraft. When a motor starts needing choke long after it is warm, hunts at idle or cuts out when the throttle is opened, the fault is usually inside the carburetor: a blocked pilot jet, a worn needle or a float level that has drifted.
Cleaning a carburetor only works while the passages are open and the needle still seats. Once the bore is worn or the mixture screw no longer does anything, a replacement is the cheaper answer than a rebuild that will not hold a setting.
Fitment covers the Tohatsu MFS9.8A2 and NSF9.8A2 from 2004 and the MFS9.8A3 and NSF9.8A3 from 2006 and 2009 to 2014. Check the model and serial number on the bracket before ordering.
