Carburetor assembly for Mercury and Mariner 4 HP and 5 HP two stroke outboards built 1987 to 1998, replacing 3303-812647T1 and 3303-812648T and crossing to the bare numbers 812647T1, 812648T, 812647 and 8126471. It is supplied as 1 x complete carburetor assembly.

This is the whole carburetor rather than a repair kit, which is the practical choice on these small Mercury motors once the throttle shaft is worn or the body has been overtightened. A rebuilt carburetor with a worn shaft still pulls air past the butterfly and will not hold a stable idle no matter how it is set.

It fits the 4 HP M, MH, ML and MLH and the 5 HP MH, ML and MLH models, which is the two cylinder family used from 1987 to 1998. Those model letters are the only reliable way to identify the engine at this size, because the cowl on a 4 and a 5 looks the same.

Before You Buy

• Check the model letters M, MH, ML or MLH on the engine, the 4 and 5 HP cowls look the same
• Match the old carburetor against 812647T1 or 812648T before ordering
• Count the turns on the mixture screw of the old unit before it comes off, that is the starting point for the new one
• Fit a new base gasket, an air leak at the base is the usual reason a new carburetor will not idle
• Check the fuel line and primer bulb for air leaks, the carburetor is often blamed for a split hose
• Set the idle in the water or in a tank, not on muffs, these small motors idle differently under load
