Product Overview
CDI switch box, a direct replacement part for Mercury and Force 3 cylinder outboards from 65 HP to 95 HP built between 1992 and 1997. It replaces Mercury 18495A10, 18495A12, 18495A15, 18495A18, 18495A19 and 18495A26, Mallory 9-25107 and CDI 114-4953, and crosses to Sierra 18-5790. The box weighs 439 g and ships in a 165 mm x 130 mm x 60 mm box (6.50 in x 5.12 in x 2.36 in).
This is the capacitor discharge ignition module on the three cylinder engines, the box that charges a capacitor and fires the coils in sequence. It is the part behind a motor that will turn over and will not start, or that starts and then dies as soon as the key comes back.
Mercury used several part number revisions across this run, and the later numbers supersede the earlier ones. The box in this listing replaces the whole set, so the number on your old unit does not have to match exactly.
Fitment runs by serial number as well as by year, because the same 90 HP model was built against two different serial blocks. Both blocks are listed below.
