Carburetor Repair Kit 0396701 396701 for Evinrude Johnson OMC 9.9-75 HP Outboard Sierra 18-7222 — Australia Local Warehouse
Carburetor Repair Kit 0396701 396701 for Evinrude Johnson OMC 9.9-75 HP Outboard Sierra 18-7222 — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Carburetor repair kit, a fuel system service part for one Evinrude or Johnson carburetor on 9.9 HP to 75 HP outboards and on the OMC Sail Drive 1.5 L engine, supplied as 1 complete kit. It replaces OMC 0396701, 0384412, 0387856, 0390077, 0390075, 0388524, 0388796, 0384413, 0390134, 0383892, 0383317, 0190262, 0777717 and 0398729, and crosses to Sierra 18-7222. Held in our Australia local warehouse.
Parts diagrams print the same numbers in a shortened form without the leading zero, so 0396701 also appears as 396701, 0190262 as 190262, and 392061 is the short form used on some listings. It is the same part either way.
The kit goes in when the engine will not idle, hunts at low speed, floods, or has sat with fuel in the bowl and the needle and seat no longer shut off. One kit does one carburetor, so a three cylinder motor needs three.

Ethanol Fuel and the Australian Lay Up
| What the Owner Sees | What Has Happened | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Motor will not idle after a few weeks ashore | Fuel evaporated, jets partly blocked | Strip the carburetor and fit the kit |
| E10 run through the motor | Ethanol draws moisture, bowl corrodes | Drain the bowl, avoid E10 where possible |
| Hunting at low speed | Needle and seat worn, mixture drifting | New needle and seat from the kit |
| Fuel leaking from the throat when tilted | Float needle not seating | Fit the kit and set the float level |
| Motor floods on a hot day | Float level high, old gasket swollen | New gasket and correct level |
| Salt air and humidity between trips | Linkages stiff, gaskets harden | Kit every few seasons, keep the bowl drained |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Confirm the engine model and year against the fitment table, one kit does one carburetor |
| 2 | Multi-carburettor engines need one kit per carburetor, order the count you need |
| 3 | Drain the old fuel and fit a fresh filter while the carburetor is off |
| 4 | Lay the old parts out in the order they come out, the springs and clips go back only one way |
| 5 | Clean the bowl and the jet passages before the new parts go in |
| 6 | Set the float level to the figure in the service manual before closing the bowl |
| 7 | Refit with new gaskets from the kit, an old gasket is the usual air leak |
| 8 | Start the motor and check the idle mixture before the boat goes back in the water |
