Exhaust Flap Non Return Valve 872438 for Volvo Penta DP-A DP-C DP-D DP-E Sterndrive
Exhaust Flap Non Return Valve 872438 for Volvo Penta DP-A DP-C DP-D DP-E Sterndrive
Product Overview
Exhaust flap non-return valve for Volvo Penta DP sterndrives, supplied as 1 x flap. This is the Volvo Penta part 872438, also quoted as 852644 and RM872438, and it fits the DP-A, DP-C, DP-D and DP-E drive families and the 31, 41 and 42 series diesel engines that use them. The flap sits in the exhaust outlet on the drive and closes when the engine stops, so water cannot run back up the exhaust and into an open exhaust valve. Once the rubber hardens, splits or tears off, a following sea or a hard stop can push water into a cylinder, and that is how a water-damaged engine starts.

Before You Buy
- Look at the flap on the drive before ordering, a missing flap leaves the housing empty
- Check the drive model against the list, DP-A, DP-C, DP-D and DP-E all use this flap
- Fit it on the exhaust outlet with the lip facing out, a reversed flap will not seat
- Inspect the housing for corrosion where the flap locates, a rough seat will tear a new one
- Renew the flap if the engine has ever taken water up the exhaust
- 30-Day Easy Returns
