Carburetor assembly for the Honda BF2D series 2 HP four-stroke outboard, sold as the complete carburettor ready to bolt on. It replaces Honda 16100-ZW6-716, 16100-ZW6-717 and 16100-ZW6-G01. The BF2D is Honda's smallest four-stroke, air cooled and fed by gravity from the tank above, and its carburettor is the part that usually ends up gummed shut after a season of storage with fuel left in the bowl. A complete assembly saves rebuilding a body that has already had its passages cleaned twice.

These engines plug along at a single fixed throttle most of the time, so a partly blocked pilot jet shows up as a motor that will only run on choke and dies when it is put into gear. The 2002 to 2006 BF2D models are covered, and the serial number table below is the only reliable way to tell them apart because the cowling decal was the same across all five years.

Before You Buy

• Check the serial prefix on the engine bracket, BZBF, BZBK, BZBL and BZBJ all take this carburettor but the year range decides the jetting
• Drain the old fuel and flush the tank before fitting, stale fuel is what destroyed the last carburettor
• Fit a new inline fuel filter, dirt from the tank is the usual cause of a blocked needle and seat
• Set the idle mixture screw one and a half turns out as a starting point and adjust with the engine in gear in water
• Prime the bowl and check for leaks at the drain screw before starting
