Transom Bellows Kit with Gimbal Bearing 30-803099T1 for Mercruiser Alpha One Gen 2 Sterndrive 18-8206-1 — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Transom bellows kit with gimbal bearing for Mercury MerCruiser Alpha One Gen 2 sterndrives from 1991 onwards, packed in a 30.5 x 19.5 x 17.5 cm box. The kit replaces 30-803099T1, Sierra 18-8206-1 and 18-8218, GLM 21960 and Mallory 9-72904. It contains the U-joint bellows, exhaust bellows, shift cable bellows, gimbal bearing, water intake hose and gasket set, with the clamps and rings needed to refit the drive. Dispatched from our Australia local warehouse.
The bellows are three rubber sleeves that seal the openings between the transom shield and the drive. Two of them carry the exhaust and the water intake, and the third protects the universal joint and the gimbal bearing. They sit permanently below the water line on a moored boat, flex every time the drive is trimmed, and perish from ozone on the outside while staying wet on the inside.
On an Alpha One Gen 2, a split U-joint bellows does not announce itself. Water enters quietly, the gimbal bearing loses its grease, and the first real symptom is usually a rumble through the transom when the helm is turned, or water in the bilge that cannot be traced. By then the bearing and the yoke are both suspect, which is why this kit includes a bearing rather than just the rubber.
