Product Overview
Exhaust elbow manifold gaskets for the MerCruiser 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 L GM V6 and V8 inboard and sterndrive engines, supplied as 2 gaskets. They replace Mercury MerCruiser 27-863724Q, 27-863724, 27-41813 and 27-860233, and cross to Sierra 18-0897, GLM 30240, Barr MC 20 99208 and Osco 8503-GR. The pair covers both faces of a centre rise outlet exhaust manifold, the joint to the manifold and the joint to the riser or elbow.
These two joints are the ones that leak sea water into a cylinder when they fail, so the gasket is not a place to reuse an old part. Look for a rust stain running down the block under the manifold, a salty crust around the elbow bolts, or water in a cylinder after the engine has sat: all three point at this joint. Fit them dry, with clean faces and new bolts if the old ones are corroded.

- Check the manifold style first, these gaskets suit the centre rise outlet manifold and not the earlier rear riser type
- Read the engine serial number on the flame arrestor decal to confirm the MAG or LX model
- Scrape both faces clean and check them with a straight edge, a warped manifold will not seal with new gaskets
- Renew the elbow bolts if the heads are corroded, they are usually the reason the joint failed
- Check the manifold and elbow for cracks while they are apart, a cracked elbow looks like a leaking gasket
