Product Overview
Gearcase seal kit for Johnson and Evinrude 40 HP to 75 HP outboards, the full lower unit set that replaces 396355 and 0396355 and crosses to Sierra 18-2659, Mallory 9-74102 and GLM 87603. It is one kit in a 15 x 10 x 6.5 cm box.
It fits the 40, 48, 50, 55 and 60 HP two cylinder motors from 1986 to 1988, and the 75 HP with the small gearcase and short shaft over the same years. Those gearcases share the same propshaft and driveshaft seal sizes, which is why one kit covers the whole family.
The seals in the box are the ones that fail first: two propshaft seals at 25.4 x 35 x 6.35 mm, a driveshaft seal at 19 x 28.6 x 4.8 mm and a second at 18.5 x 28.7 x 5.8 mm, with the O rings, rubber gaskets and screws that go back with them. Milky gear oil, or oil weeping under the prop, almost always comes from one of those lips.
