Product Overview
Hydrofoil stabilizer kit for outboard motors from 5 HP to 150 HP. Fits most Mercury, Mariner, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Honda, Tohatsu and Suzuki legs, and it is supplied as a pair of wings with the mounting hardware and a drill guide.
Each wing measures 10-1/4 in (260 mm) high by 8-1/4 in (210 mm) wide and is moulded in PA66 nylon, the same glass-filled plastic used for through-hull fittings, because a hydrofoil lives under water and takes a load every time the boat comes off plane. The bolts and washers are SS316, not the 304 grade that rusts first at the cavitation plate.
What the plate does is simple: it turns the flat cavitation plate into an aerofoil. The boat climbs onto plane at lower RPM, holds plane at a lower speed, and the bow stops hunting when you come off the throttle. On a small RIB or a tinny with a 20 HP to 60 HP motor that is the difference between struggling in a chop and staying on top of it.

Before You Buy
- Check the motor is within the 5 HP to 150 HP range, and measure the flat area on the cavitation plate
- The plate needs a flat surface either side of the leg with enough room for the 4 mounting bolts
- Check there is clearance above the prop and that the wing does not foul the trim cylinder
- Use the drill guide in the kit, an off-centre hole puts the pair out of true and the boat will pull
- Seal the bolt holes with marine sealant, a bare hole in an aluminium leg starts corrosion
- Test at low speed first, the plate changes trim behaviour and you will need to re-trim the motor
