Product Overview
Ignition coil assembly for Yamaha two stroke outboards from 9.9 HP to 30 HP, replacing 61N-85570-10, 61N-85570-10-00 and 61N-85570-00, and crossing to Sierra 18-5113. It is supplied as 1 x coil for the 25 HP and 30 HP C30 motors and the 9.9 HP motors that use this coil.
The coil is the part that fails when a motor cuts out hot and starts again after it cools, or when one cylinder drops and the plug still sparks when you test it against the block. A coil that breaks down under load will pass a static spark test and still miss at 4,000 rpm, so test with a peak voltage meter or swap the coil across cylinders before you buy.
The fitment is the awkward part. On paper this coil covers 9.9 HP from 1994 to 1995 and from 2001 to 2009, 25 HP over the same two windows, and the C30 in 1993 and 1997, with the model codes in the table below. Those gaps matter: the 30 HP C30 uses this coil in the years listed and a different coil outside them.

Before You Buy
- Match the model code on the transom bracket against the year table, not just the horsepower
- Check the old coil against 61N-85570-10 before ordering, the earlier coil looks the same and does not fit
- Test with a peak voltage meter or swap the coils across cylinders, a coil that fails hot passes a cold spark test
- Check the coil ground and the stop circuit before condemning the coil, a bad ground acts exactly like a failing coil
- Clean the laminations and apply dielectric grease to the plug cap, salt water on the core rusts it
- Check the other coil on a two cylinder motor while the cowl is off, they usually go at the same age
