Product Overview
Complete water pump kit for Mercury 30 HP, 35 HP, 40 HP and 60 HP outboards, replacing 46-77177A3 and crossing to Sierra 18-3324 and GLM 12100. It is the full pump, not just the rubber: upper housing, pump base, impeller and wear plate with all the gaskets and O-rings needed to rebuild the pump in one go.
The impeller in the kit is 47-89983, the 142 type used on these three and four cylinder motors. The housing and base are supplied because the stainless liner and the base face wear together: a new impeller in a worn housing pumps less than the old one did.
Serial ranges decide fitment on these motors. The 30 HP jet is C159200 to G589999, the 35 HP is 6445653 and up, the two cylinder 40 HP through 1983 is 4860103 and up, and the 60 HP is 6428681 to D000749. Some of the rubber parts and gaskets come already seated in the housing.

Before You Buy
- Check the serial number against the ranges above, this kit does not fit the later 40 HP four stroke
- Check the driveshaft splines and key slot while the pump is off, a worn slot ruins a new impeller
- Check the water tube and its grommet, a perished grommet loses pressure with a brand new pump
- Fit the impeller blades bent in the direction of rotation, and oil the housing bore before assembly
- Some gaskets arrive pre seated in the housing, do not lever them out thinking they are missing
- Check the telltale stream at idle after the first start, and recheck after the first hour on the water
