Product Overview
Manifold and block drain plug kit for MerCruiser sterndrives from 3.0 L to 8.2 L, supplied as 5 plugs with 5 O-rings, 10 pieces in total, 65 g in a 12 x 10 x 3 cm (4.7 x 3.9 x 1.2 in) carton. It replaces MerCruiser 22-806608A02, 22-806608A1, 22-806608Q01 and 22-8M0119211, and crosses to GLM 13992, Sierra 18-4226 and Mallory 9-41203. Held in our Australia local warehouse.
These are the plugs that drain the engine block and the centre-rise exhaust manifolds. On an Australian boat they are pulled at least once a season, and often after every trip in salt water, because a manifold that cannot be drained will not last.
The reason to buy them by the bag is that the plug itself rarely fails in a clean way. The O-ring goes flat first, the plug weeps, and the next removal is done on a plug whose hex head has already been rounded once. Five at a time means a spare is always in the toolbox when the one in the block refuses to come out.
The thread runs into an aluminium or cast iron housing. It is the reason every fitting note below says the same thing: hand tight plus a nip, never a wrench turned until it stops.
