Product Overview
Generator stator coil for Mercury 2-stroke carburettor outboards from 6 to 40 HP, 1986-1996. It replaces 86617A20, 86617A11, 86617A13, 86617A2, 86617A3, 86617A5 and 86617A9, plus 398-86617A20, Sierra 18-5864, Mallory 9-25505 and CDI 174-6617K1. The stator charges the battery and feeds the ignition system on these small blocks. A failing stator shows up as a battery that will not stay charged, weak or no spark, a tachometer that reads low or an engine that cuts out when hot. Replace the stator when resistance tests are out of spec or the coils are visibly burnt.
