Product Overview
V-belt, a direct replacement part for Volvo Penta 4.3 L, 5.0 L and 5.7 L marine engines and for OMC 990 Series inboards from 305 HP to 454 HP. It replaces Volvo Penta 3852464, OMC 908929 and 315769, and crosses to Sierra 18-15455. The belt drives the power steering pump, alternator and cooling system, weighs 120 g and ships in a 200 mm x 250 mm x 50 mm box (7.87 in x 9.84 in x 1.97 in).
This is the accessory drive belt on the GM based V6 and V8 engines. It runs the alternator, the power steering pump and the circulating pump, so a belt that lets go takes the charging system and the steering assist with it.
The Volvo Penta side covers the 4.3 L, 5.0 L and 5.7 L engines, listed against more than ninety model codes. The OMC side covers the 990 Series inboard range, 305 HP, 350 HP and 454 HP, built in 1980 and 1981, and lists displacements from 1.7 L up to 5.8 L, along with the matching sterndrive engines. Check the belt tensioner and the pulleys when you change the belt. A worn tensioner will shred a new belt within a season, and a glazed pulley will make a new belt squeal from the first start.
