Product Overview
Water pump impeller kit part for Suzuki DT6 and DT8 two stroke outboards, replacing kit 17400-98551 and 17400-98550 and crossing to Sierra 18-3259. It is supplied as 1 x impeller, 1 x plate, 1 x gasket and 1 x drive key, which is the full pump rebuild rather than the rubber alone.
The impeller inside the kit is the 6 blade part measuring 40.85 mm outside diameter, 9.75 mm at the shaft and 13.75 mm high. It is the same impeller used across the small Suzuki range, so the kit is the DT6 and DT8 version with the plate and gasket that those two models need.
The plate is the part most people leave out, and it is the one that decides whether a new impeller holds pressure. A stainless plate wears a shallow groove where the blade tips run, and a new impeller against a grooved plate pumps less than the worn one it replaced.

Before You Buy
- Check the model is a DT6 or DT8, the smaller Suzuki motors use a different kit
- Measure the old impeller at 40.85 mm outside and 13.75 mm high before ordering
- Fit the new plate and gasket in the kit, reusing the old plate wastes the new impeller
- Check the pump housing for scoring, a grooved housing needs replacing as well
- Lubricate the impeller with glycerine and turn the shaft by hand to set the blade direction
- Check the telltale at idle and again at planing speed on the first run
