Product Overview
Water pump impeller with key for the Yamaha 9.9, 13.5 and 15 HP outboards, the impeller and the drive key that turns it. It replaces Yamaha 63V-44352-01 and 63V-44352-00, it also crosses to Sierra 18-3040, it is made in hardened nylon with neoprene rubber blades, and it ships as one impeller and one key in a 150 mm x 180 mm x 190 mm box at 22 g.
This is the impeller for the small four stroke Yamaha range, the 9.9 and 15 HP motors that share the same pump, plus the 13.5 HP F13.5A. The key locks the impeller to the drive shaft, so the pump turns with the motor and not on the shaft.
The hub is hardened nylon and the blades are neoprene rubber. The nylon takes the load where the key sits, which is the part that fails first when a pump has been run dry, even briefly, on muffs with the tap not fully open.
A tired impeller shows as a weak tell tale at idle that picks up once the motor revs, then an engine that runs hot at low speed where the pump does most of its work. Left until the blades let go, the pieces travel up the tube and block the thermostat or the water jacket.
