Product Overview
Kill switch and safety lanyard assembly part for Yamaha two stroke outboards, supplied as one switch with lanyard and a 55 cm black lead. It replaces 63V-82575-00, 6E9-82575-09, 6E9-82575-02-00, 6E9-82575-01-00, 6E9-82575-00-00, 689-82575-04-00 and 689-82575-03-00, with Sierra 18-65450 as the cross reference. Fitment covers Yamaha 6 HP, 8 HP, 9.9 HP, 20 HP, 25 HP and 40 HP two stroke models. Dispatched from our Australia local warehouse.
The switch earths the ignition when the lanyard is pulled, which is what stops the engine if the driver goes over the side or leaves the helm running. It is a safety item, not a convenience item, so a switch that has gone intermittent is worth replacing rather than cleaning and hoping.
Fit a new switch when the engine will not shut off with the lanyard out, will not start with it clipped in, or the switch body has cracked and taken water. Check the connector pins for corrosion while you are in there, because a green pin gives the same symptoms as a failed switch.
