160°F / 71°C thermostat kit for OMC and Volvo Penta sterndrives, covering the 2.5 L and 3.0 L four cylinder engines plus the 120 HP and 140 HP OMC models. It is a direct replacement for Volvo Penta 3853799, 982554, 3852096 and 778064, and cross-references Sierra 18-3621. The kit is supplied with the thermostat and its gasket so the housing only has to be opened once. A thermostat that has drifted open runs the engine cold and washes the cylinder walls with fuel; one stuck shut overheats it — this kit restores the factory 160°F opening point.
