Flexible Impeller Kit 51 mm 09-810B 653-0001 for Johnson F4 Jabsco Yanmar Volvo Beta Westerbeke — UK Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Flexible impeller kit for raw water pump bodies built by Johnson and Jabsco, 51 mm outside diameter by 22 mm wide, 6 blades, 12 mm slotted pin drive, supplied with the gasket and O-ring. It replaces Johnson 09-810B, Jabsco 653-0001, Sierra 18-45713, Mallory 9-45713, Westerbeke 34440, Yanmar 128990-42200 and Volvo Penta 876097, and fits every pump on the Johnson F4 and Jabsco 29460 / 29470 bodies. Dispatched from our United Kingdom local warehouse.
Before ordering, measure the old impeller rather than reading the badge on the pump. One body was sold as Johnson, Jabsco, SPX, BLA, CEF, JMP, Northern Lights, Westerbeke, Beta Marine, Volvo Penta and Yanmar, so the name on the casting says nothing about which number you need.
The dimensions are what settle it: 51 mm across, 22 mm wide, 12 mm shaft, brass insert. The F3 pump looks identical in a photograph and takes a 40 mm impeller, which will not seal in this body.

When the New Impeller Does Not Fix It
| Symptom After Fitting | What Is Actually Wrong | What to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Still no water at the outlet | Air pulled in before the pump | Strainer, hose joints, seacock, the gasket seat |
| Water flow below normal | Cover plate scored, water bypasses the blades | Hold a straight edge across the plate |
| Pump noisy and flow uneven | Cam worn, blades cannot be squeezed | Inspect the cam inside the housing |
| Water dripping from the pump body | Shaft seal gone, not the impeller | Renew the seal, the impeller only moves water |
| Impeller destroyed within hours | Dry run or blocked intake | Find out why the intake blocked before refitting |
| Blades folded the wrong way | Impeller fitted against rotation | Note the shaft rotation before the cover goes on |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Measure the old impeller, 51 mm diameter by 22 mm wide, the F3 pump takes a 40 mm impeller and it will not fit |
| 2 | Check whether the shaft is 12 mm or 3/8 in on the F4B, the pump was sold in both versions |
| 3 | Check the insert is brass and not bare rubber, a worn insert will spin on the shaft |
| 4 | Inspect the pump cover plate for scoring, a grooved plate lets water bypass the new impeller |
| 5 | Lubricate the impeller with glycerine before fitting, never install it dry |
| 6 | Turn the shaft by hand after fitting to confirm the blades fold in the correct direction |
| 7 | Look for water under the pump after the first run, a weeping cover gasket is common after a rebuild |
| 8 | Keep one kit in the locker, an impeller that fails at sea takes the engine with it |
