Product Overview
Carburetor rebuild kit for Mercury and Mariner WME series outboard carburettors, replacing Mercury 1395-8236354 and crossing to Sierra 18-7750-1, GLM 40650, Mallory 9-29707 and Volvo Penta 35254. One kit is supplied with the gaskets, needle and seat and the small internals.
The WME is the single barrel carburettor on the small four stroke Mercury and Mariner motors, and this kit is the one that goes with every variant from WME-1 through WME-81. Old fuel is what kills them: ethanol blend left standing in the bowl turns to a varnish that blocks the idle jet, and no amount of adjusting will fix a blocked jet.
The kit covers the full WME model list below, which is the part number on the carburettor body rather than on the engine. Check that number before ordering, because the two barrel carburettors on the larger motors use a different kit.

Before You Buy
- Read the WME number off the carburettor body, not off the engine, and check it against the list above
- Check the throttle shaft for play before rebuilding, a worn shaft pulls air and the kit will not fix the idle
- Soak the body in carburettor cleaner and blow every passage through with air, do not poke jets with wire
- Count the turns out on the idle mixture screw before removing it so you have a starting point
- Check the float for fuel inside it and set the height to the manual figure
- Run the motor on muffs and set the idle mixture hot, then check it settles after a restart
