Product Overview

Exhaust Y-pipe rubber seal kit for MerCruiser sterndrives, replacing 41802 and the same seal sold as Mercury Marine 8M0068607, GLM 86217, SEI Marine 9F-116-07 and OBR Red Rhino MR-949. The kit is supplied as 2 rubber seals, one for each side of the Y-pipe.

The seals sit between the exhaust Y-pipe and the transom plate on Alpha One Generation 2 and on the Bravo 1, 2 and 3 transom assemblies, and on the Blackhawk drive. They seal the exhaust and cooling water passage, so when they perish the engine bay starts to smell of exhaust and water weeps down the inside of the transom.

The originals harden with heat and take a set, which is why these are replaced whenever the engine or the transom assembly comes apart. Fit them dry, in clean grooves, with both faces flat, because a rolled seal here leaks straight into the bilge.

Before You Buy

• Check the transom assembly is Alpha One Generation 2, Bravo or Blackhawk, the Generation 1 joint is different
• Check the old seal against 41802 before ordering
• Clean both grooves back to bare metal, old rubber left in the groove will not seal
• Check the Y-pipe faces are flat, a corroded face will not seal even with a new ring
• Fit the seals dry and check they sit proud of the groove all the way round before the Y-pipe goes on
• Look for exhaust smell in the engine bay after the first run, a leaking seal here is a carbon monoxide risk
