Product Overview
Two magnetic gearcase drain plugs with washers for Mercury Mariner outboards from 18 HP to 300 HP, Chrysler Force motors and Mercruiser sterndrives, replacing 10-14834A1, 10-14834, 22-67892 and 22-67892A1, and crossing to Sierra 18-2375 and GLM 21731. The thread is 3/8 inch 16.
The magnet is the point of the part. A plain plug lets the first signs of gear wear circulate with the lube; a magnetic plug holds the steel fuzz on the tip so you see it at the next service. If the tip comes out with a paste rather than a light fuzz, the gearcase needs looking at before it fails.
Two plugs per pack covers the fill and vent holes, which is what most people change together. It fits Mercruiser R, MR and Alpha One including Gen II, all Mercury and Mariner outboards with the 3/8-16 drain screw, and the Chrysler Force range, but not the Verado series.

Before You Buy
- Check the thread is 3/8-16, the Verado and some later gearcases use a different plug
- Check the old washer comes off, two washers under one plug will not seal
- Drain the gear lube into a clear jar and look for milkiness or metal before fitting the new plugs
- Fit the plugs by hand first, the gearcase is alloy and the thread strips easily
- Tighten to the manual figure and refill from the bottom hole until lube runs out of the top
- Wipe the plug tips clean at the next service and compare what the magnets have picked up
