3856961 Thermostat Kit 160F for Volvo Penta OMC 4.3 5.0 5.7 5.8 L V6 V8 Marine Engine — Germany Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Thermostat kit opening at 160 °F (71 °C) for Volvo Penta and OMC 4.3, 5.0, 5.7 and 5.8 L V6 and V8 marine engines, packed at 150 x 100 x 50 mm. It replaces Volvo Penta 3856961, 3852216 and 383307 (listed as 0383307), plus OMC 379754, and crosses to Sierra 18-3677, GLM 13060 and Mallory 9-43021 and 43021. Shipped from our Germany local warehouse.
The kit ships with the thermostat, its O-ring and its housing gasket, so the housing can be resealed in one go instead of hunting three separate numbers. These GM and Ford based blocks use the 160 °F thermostat because they run raw water through the manifold, and the cooler setting keeps the engine from heat soaking the exhaust after a long run at cruise.
It fits the V6 and V8 range only. The four cylinder engines take a different housing and a different thermostat, and that mistake shows up as a leak at the cover rather than an overheat.

- Check the cover plate or the engine tag, the 4.3, 5.0, 5.7 and 5.8 L V6 and V8 take this kit, the four cylinder engines do not
- Match the housing shape before ordering, later 5.0 and 5.7 models changed to a different cover
