Water Pump Impeller Kit with Key 5033112 18-3099 for Suzuki DT9.9 DT15 DF8 DF9.9 DF15 DF20 Johnson Evinrude J10 J15 8-20 HP Outboard — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Water pump impeller kit with drive key for Suzuki 8 to 20 HP and Johnson Evinrude 9.9 and 15 HP four stroke outboards, supplied as 1 impeller with 6 blades, 39.36 mm (1.55 in) outside diameter, 13.03 mm (0.51 in) inside diameter and 21.95 mm (0.86 in) tall, plus 1 drive key. It replaces Johnson Evinrude 5033112 and the OMC 0766431, Sierra 18-3099, Mallory 9-45500 and GLM 89970 and 89647 equivalents. Shipped from our Australia local warehouse.
The Suzuki and Johnson Evinrude four strokes in this range run the same pump and take the same impeller, so a motor with either badge fits. The key is in the pack because a worn impeller almost always arrives with a key that is half sheared or missing entirely.
Size is what separates this impeller from the ones either side of it. At 39.36 mm across the body it is the small key drive unit, and the 9.9 and 15 HP two strokes built before 1983 take a different, larger impeller.

Dry Housings and Sheared Keys
| What Happened | What You Find | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Motor started dry on the trailer | Blades curled or tips torn, key half sheared | Renew impeller and key together |
| Key sheared, shaft spinning | Impeller looks new, no water flow | Renew the key, check the shaft slot |
| Shaft slot worn | New key sits loose and shears again | Inspect the shaft before fitting |
| Impeller run with a blocked intake | Blades scored, housing liner scuffed | Clear the intake, check the liner |
| Old impeller left in over winter | Blades take a set, then break on first start | Renew every season, not every two |
| Tell tale weak at idle | Blades tired rather than broken | Renew before it fails on the water |
Sand, Warm Water and the Service Interval
| Australian Use | Effect on the Impeller | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Shallow ramps and sand bars | Grit scores the blades and the liner | Flush on muffs and check every season |
| Warm northern water | Neoprene softens and takes a set | Shorten the interval to 100 hours |
| Long runs at planing speed | Blade tips wear first | Inspect at the annual service |
| Boat left on a mooring | Growth at the intake starves the pump | Clear the intake before each season |
| Salt left in the housing | Blades stick to the liner and tear on start | Flush after every salt trip |
| Trailer boat, few trips a year | Impeller ages without use | Renew on the calendar, not on hours |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Check the old impeller across the body at 39.36 mm, the earlier 9.9 and 15 HP two stroke takes a larger one |
| 2 | Check the engine badge, DF and DT models in this range share the pump with the Johnson J10 and J15 |
| 3 | Check the driveshaft slot and the key, a worn slot shears a new key |
| 4 | Check the housing cup and wear plate for scoring before fitting the new impeller |
| 5 | Fold the blades in the direction of rotation and use glycerine, never grease or oil |
| 6 | Seat the key in the shaft slot first, then slide the impeller down over it |
| 7 | Fit the housing and check the impeller turns with the shaft before closing up |
| 8 | Run on muffs and confirm a strong tell tale before the boat goes to the ramp |
