Product Overview
Zinc anode kit, a sacrificial corrosion part for Volvo Penta sterndrives and raw water cooled engines, supplied as 5 x anodes with both the male and the female hollow ends. It replaces Volvo Penta 3838499, 800476, 804107, 838929 and 858501, and crosses to Sierra 18-6001, GLM 12789, Tecnoseal 00714 and CMP CM838929Z. Dispatched from our United Kingdom local warehouse.
These are the pieces of metal that corrode instead of the drive around them. Five in a pack matters because a full set is rarely one piece: the transom shield, the drive housing and the engine block each take one, and they waste at different rates depending on how close they sit to dissimilar metal.
Zinc is the right alloy for salt and brackish water, which covers most of the UK coast and the tidal reaches of the estuaries. Boats kept on a freshwater lake need the magnesium version instead, because a zinc anode in fresh water skins over and stops working.
