Product Overview
Fuel pump for Tohatsu, Nissan, Mercury and Mariner four stroke outboards from 4 HP to 9.8 HP, replacing Tohatsu 3H6-04000-1, 3H6-04000-3, 3H6-04000-7 and 3H6040000M through 3H6040007M, and Mercury 803529T, 803529T01 through 803529T07. One pump is supplied.
It is the small diaphragm pump bolted to the powerhead, pulse driven from the crankcase. The same pump is used across the Tohatsu MFS range and the Mercury Mariner four strokes because Mercury built those motors on the Tohatsu platform, which is why one part carries two brand number series.
Diagnosis is straightforward: a motor that runs at low speed but leans out and stumbles above half throttle, or floods and smells of fuel at idle, is usually the diaphragm. Ethanol blend hardens it, and a pump weeping from the vent hole is already past saving.

Before You Buy
- Check the number on the pump body, the T suffix numbers and the M suffix numbers are the same pump
- Check the pulse line and its clips, a cracked pulse line gives the same lean running as a dead pump
- Check the inline filter and the tank pickup, a restricted supply will not be fixed by a new pump
- Drain the old fuel and fit new clips, do not reuse spring clips on new hose
- Prime the new pump with the primer bulb and check for leaks at both hose joints before starting
- Check the vent hole underneath after the first run, a weep there means the diaphragm is pinched
