8M0082911 Air Filter for Mercury 75 80 90 100 115 HP EFI Four Stroke Outboard 35-8M0082911 — United States Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Air filter element for the Mercury 75-115 HP EFI four stroke outboard range, a direct replacement that fits the original air box without modification. It replaces Mercury 8M0082911 and 35-8M0082911, and also covers 897575T01, 897575T02, 35-897575T01 and 35-897575T02. The element measures 165 x 110 x 110 mm (6.5 x 4.3 x 4.3 in). In stock in our United States local warehouse.
An EFI four stroke pulls a large volume of air and meters fuel against it, so a loaded filter quietly costs power across the whole range rather than failing all at once. Salt air makes it worse: the element traps salt film as well as dust, and a damp element that never fully dries starts to restrict flow long before it looks dirty.
The 75 HP, 80 HP, 90 HP, 100 HP and 115 HP four cylinder EFI blocks share this air box, so the number on the old element is the quickest way to confirm the part. Replace it at service intervals, and check the air box seal and the intake tract for cracks at the same time, because an unmetered air leak will confuse the ECU just as badly as a blocked filter.

Signs the Air Filter Needs Changing
| Symptom | What It Points To |
|---|---|
| Power down across the whole range | Restricted intake, element loaded |
| Rough idle and uneven pickup | Blocked element or an air leak after the filter |
| Fuel consumption creeping up | ECU compensating for low intake volume |
| Element damp or salt stained | Salt air ingress, replace and check the box seal |
| Whistle or hiss from the intake | Loose cover or a split in the intake tract |
How to Replace
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Switch the engine off and let it cool |
| 2 | Release the air box clips and lift the cover clear |
| 3 | Note the orientation of the old element before lifting it out |
| 4 | Wipe the box out, do not leave loose debris inside |
| 5 | Seat the new element squarely in the frame |
| 6 | Refit the cover and check every clip is engaged |
| 7 | Run the engine and listen for intake leaks at the box |
