Product Overview
Air filter for the Mercury and Mariner 2.5 litre DFI outboards from 115 HP to 225 HP. It replaces Mercury 35-853333 and 35-853333T, crosses to Sierra 18-7997 and Mallory 9-57725, and ships as one filter in a 150 mm x 100 mm x 40 mm box at 83 g.
This is the intake filter on the 2.5 L DFI block, the one that sits ahead of the throttle body on the V115, V-135, V-150 and V-175, and on the 200 and 225 DFI. It is a pleated element in a plastic frame, and it is the only thing between the engine and the dust, salt and fuel mist under the cowling.
DFI engines are fussy about intake air. A filter that is loaded up richens the mixture, the engine loses top end and the plugs start reading dark, which looks like a fuel problem and is not. Changing the element is the cheapest thing to rule out first.
Fitment covers the V115 DFI from 2000, the V-135 and V-150 DFI from 1998, the V-175 DFI from 2001, the 200 and 225 DFI from 1998 to 2002, and the 200 DFI Jet Drive. The Mariner badge uses the same filter on the same 2.5 litre block.
