Air filter insert for Volvo Penta TAMD63 marine diesels, supplied as 1 filter element in a 20 x 14 x 11 cm (7.9 x 5.5 x 4.3 in) box. It replaces Volvo Penta 3825038 and Sierra 18-79007, and it drops into the original air box on the TAMD63L-A, TAMD63L-1 and TAMD63P-A engines. Dispatched from our Germany local warehouse.
This is a service item that gets overlooked because nothing fails when it is dirty. The engine still starts, still idles at the berth, and only shows the problem when it is asked for full power on a long run: black smoke, a slow build of boost and a top speed that has quietly fallen by a knot or two.
In a boat the element also collects oil mist from the crankcase breather, which is why marine air filters load up differently from the same engine in a road vehicle. Once the pleats are dark and oily through, cleaning will not bring it back.
