Product Overview
Marine engine air filter insert part for Volvo Penta KAD, TAMD, MD and TMD diesels, a 350 mm long element that drops into the original air box, replacing 876185, 463505 and 863344, plus Sierra 18-7890. Fitment covers KAD 32, 42, 43, 44 and 300, TAMD 61, 62, 71 and 72, and the MD, TMD and TAMD 30 and 40 engines. Dispatched from our United Kingdom local warehouse.
The insert is a service part, not a tuning part. On a turbocharged KAD or TAMD the air box pulls hard, so a loaded element shows up as black smoke under load, a slow loss of top end power and a thirstier engine long before anything sounds wrong. Salt air and engine room oil mist load the paper faster than a road application would.
Replace at the service interval, or sooner if the element is visibly dark, the housing holds dust, or the engine smokes under load. Wipe the air box out before fitting the new insert, check the seal at the lid, and make sure the intake hose is not collapsing under boost.
