Carburetor Rebuild Kit 382048 765630 for Johnson Evinrude 9.5 HP 1964-1973 with Float
Product Overview
Carburettor rebuild kit for the Johnson and Evinrude 9.5 HP outboards built from 1964 to 1973, the BRP OMC SysteMatched kit with a float that returns a tired carburettor to a clean idle and full throttle. It replaces Johnson Evinrude 382048 and 765630, Mallory 9-37106, Sierra 18-7043 and GLM 40510, and it ships as one kit in a 150 mm x 180 mm x 10 mm pack at 36 g.
One kit rebuilds one carburettor. Inside are the float, the needle and seat, and the gaskets that come off when the carburettor is opened, which is the set that decides whether the engine idles properly and whether it stops flooding when it is tilted up.
The 9.5 HP is a two stroke with a separate carburettor for each cylinder on the twin, and the classic symptoms of a tired kit are all similar: it will only run on choke, it dies at idle, it loads up and smokes, or fuel runs out of the throat after the engine is shut down. A float that has soaked up fuel sits too low and the mixture goes rich, and a hardened needle and seat lets fuel past when the engine is off.
These carburettors are simple and the rebuild is a bench job. The important part is cleaning: blow out every passage, check the float level against the specification, and check the float for fuel inside it before it goes back in. A new kit fitted into a dirty body will behave exactly like the old one.
Fitment is all Johnson and Evinrude 9.5 HP models from 1964 to 1973. Note that the kit is not compatible with the Sportwin engine, so check the model badge before ordering.
