Carburetor Repair Kit 438996 435442 436852 777719 18-7247 for Evinrude Johnson OMC 90 105 115 150 175 HP Outboard Quiet Rider — Australia Local Warehouse
Product Overview
Carburetor repair kit, a fuel system part for Evinrude and Johnson outboards from 90 HP to 175 HP and OMC Quiet Rider motors. It replaces OMC 438996, 435442, 436852 and 777719 and crosses to Sierra 18-7247. One kit rebuilds one carburetor. Shipped from our Australia local warehouse.
The kit carries the soft parts that go hard with age: the needle and seat, the float bowl gasket, the inlet filter screen and the adjustment seals. It is the set you buy when a motor that ran well last season idles rough, drips fuel from the bowl or will not hold a setting.
It covers the loopcharged V4 and V6 motors from 1992 onward and the Quiet Rider 150 HP of 1993 and 1994. The carburetor body and jets are not in the kit, only the service parts, so check the throttle shafts and the body gasket faces while the carburetor is off.

In the Kit and Not in the Kit
| Part | In This Kit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Needle, seat and bowl gasket | Yes | The parts that cause most leaks |
| Inlet filter screen | Yes | Catches grit before the needle |
| Mixture screw seals | Yes | Hard seals cause a wandering idle |

| Jets | No | Clean and reuse, they are matched to the motor |
| Carburetor body and throttle shaft | No | Worn shafts need a different repair |
Rough Idle, Fuel Drip and Hard Starting
| What the Motor Does | Likely Cause | What To Check |
|---|---|---|
| Idles rough, clears above 2,000 rpm | Idle circuit dirty or a hard seal | Strip the carburetor and fit the kit |
| Fuel dripping from the bowl | Needle and seat not sealing | Renew the needle and seat, check the float |
| Will not hold a mixture setting | Adjustment seal hardened | New seals from the kit |
| Starts only with the primer bulb pumped | Inlet screen blocked or a weak pump | Clean the screen, check the pump |
| Black plugs and heavy fuel smell | Float height wrong, flooding | Set the float to the manual figure |
| Lean stumble on acceleration | Blocked passage, not a seal problem | Soak the body and blow the passages through |
E10 and Carburettor Soft Parts
| What E10 Does | Effect on the Kit Parts | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Ethanol absorbs water | Needle and seat corrode and stick | Renew the kit, drain stale fuel |
| Stale fuel over the off season | Bowl gasket hardens and weeps | Drain the bowls before storage |
| Ethanol attacks older fuel hose | Black particles block the inlet screen | Renew the hose with ethanol rated line |
| Water in the bowl | Motor misses at low speed | Drain the tank, fit the kit, check the filter |
| Fuel left in the carburetor for months | Passages gum shut | Run the carburetor dry before storage |
| Frequent short trips | Condensation in a part full tank | Keep the tank full, use fresh fuel |
Fitting Notes
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Check the number on the carburetor body, the kit fits the listed horsepower and years only |
| 2 | Count the carburetors on the motor, one kit rebuilds one carburetor |
| 3 | Check the float for a leak before reusing it, a heavy float cannot be fixed with a new needle |
| 4 | Soak the metal parts and blow every passage through with air, do not poke them with wire |
| 5 | Set the float height to the manual figure, a wrong height floods or starves the motor |
| 6 | Fit the new inlet screen and the bowl gasket dry, no sealant |
| 7 | Set the mixture screws to the manual base setting before starting |
| 8 | Start on muffs, then fine tune on the water under load and recheck for weeps |
