Product Overview
Carrier assembly base 807929A1 for Mercruiser stern drives, the carrier with its O ring seal and seal that sits in the transom assembly of the Alpha One Gen II and Vazer drives. It replaces 807929A1 and 821759A2, crosses to Sierra 18-2354, GLM 12341 and Mallory 9-72642, and the outer diameter is 60.8 mm.
It fits the Alpha One Gen II from 1991 onward and the Vazer Transom and Vazer Drive from 1998. The same carrier is used on the Mercury 200 HP, 225 HP, 250 HP and 300 HP 3.0 litre models from the mid nineties onward, so it covers a wide spread of sterndrive and outboard installations.
The carrier holds the seal that keeps water out of the drive where the shaft passes through, and it is the part that gets replaced when a transom assembly is rebuilt. Old ones corrode in the bore, the O ring goes hard, and the first sign is usually water in the drive oil or a slow leak onto the bellows.
