Drive Rubber Bellows 875512 for Volvo Penta AQ80 AQ100 AQ100B AQ100S 875827 18-2755
Product Overview
Drive bellows for Volvo Penta AQ80 and AQ100 series drives, the corrugated rubber boot that seals the drive shaft and universal joint at the transom shield. It replaces Volvo Penta 875512 and 875827 and crosses to Sierra 18-2755, it ships as one bellows with two stainless steel clamps in a 150 mm x 155 mm x 160 mm box at 374 g, and it fits the AQ80, AQ100, AQ100B and AQ100S engines on both AQ Drive and Sail Drive installations.
This is the seal that keeps the sea out of the boat. The drive shaft passes through the transom shield into the bell housing, and the bellows is the flexible joint that lets the drive trim and steer while the shaft stays sealed. Behind it sit the universal joint and the gimbal bearing, which are steel parts running in an aluminium housing with no oil of their own.
When the bellows perishes, the failure is quiet until it is expensive. A small split lets water into the bell housing while the boat is running, the gimbal bearing rusts, the universal joint loses its grease, and the first symptom the owner notices is usually a vibration or a rumbling noise rather than water in the boat.
Rubber bellows have a service life in years rather than hours. Ozone, sunlight and the constant flexing at the transom shield all harden the rubber, and the bellows that looks sound on the outside often cracks at the inner folds where the drive shaft passes through. That is why the part is replaced on age during a drive service, not only when a leak is found.
Fitment covers the Volvo Penta AQ80, AQ100, AQ100B and AQ100S engines on the AQ Drive, and the Sail Drive leg. The 875512 number is specific to these older AQ drives, so compare the number on the old bellows before ordering: the later 270, 280, 290 and SP drives use different bellows that will not seal on the AQ transom shield.
