Product Overview
Exhaust bellows boot part for MerCruiser sterndrives, 63.5 mm (2-1/2 in) inside diameter at both ends and 133 mm (5-1/4 in) long. The set contains the rubber boot and two stainless clamps. It replaces 18654A1, 18654B1, 32734, 32734A3 and 8M0124227, and crosses to Sierra 18-2750, GLM 89100 and Mallory 9-72703. Kept in our Germany local warehouse.
The exhaust boot is the one that carries exhaust gas and cooling water through the transom. It is not the drive boot and it is not the shift cable boot, and all three live within a few centimetres of each other on an Alpha or Bravo transom assembly. Water lying in the bilge after a layup points at the drive boot, exhaust noise under the hatch points at this one.
Rubber on this joint hardens with heat and then cracks where it folds. Replace it whenever the drive is off the boat for service, and check the bell housing face for corrosion while the old boot is out, because a pitted face will not seal against a new boot even with the clamps tight.
