Product Overview

Replacement fuel pump for Johnson, Evinrude, OMC and BRP 9.9 HP and 15 HP outboards, supplied with its gasket. It replaces Johnson Evinrude 0438562, 0434728, 0395084 and 0395850, and crosses to Sierra 18-7351, 18-7352 and EMP 1399-07352. One fuel pump and one gasket are in the box.

The pump is the diaphragm type bolted to the side of the powerhead and driven off the crankcase pulse, so it needs no wiring and no priming. When the diaphragm hardens the engine leans out at high revs, will not hold idle, or the primer bulb stays soft while the engine is running.

This is the non-VRO pump. It fits the 9.9 and 15 HP motors directly, and the same casting is listed for most non-VRO Johnson Evinrude models from 20 HP up to 115 HP built between 1968 and 1996, which is what the fitment table below covers. VRO and OMS pumped motors use a different pump and are not covered.

Before You Buy

• Check whether the motor is VRO or OMS, this pump will not replace those systems
• Match the old pump against 0438562 or 0434728 before ordering, the mounting bolt spacing differs on some years
• Check the pulse hose from the crankcase, a split hose makes a new pump look faulty
• Check the fuel lines and primer bulb for air leaks, the pump pulls air as easily as fuel
• Fit the new gasket dry and tighten the bolts evenly, over tightened bolts warp the pump body
• Run the motor on muffs and check the fuel filter and hose joints for weeping before launch
