Mechanical fuel pump for Volvo Penta AQ petrol engines, replacing 841161 and 841161-3 and crossing to Sierra 18-7286, EMP 35-35286, GLM 77011 and Mallory 9-35425. The kit is supplied as 1 x fuel pump with 3 gaskets and the flange insulator.
This is the engine driven diaphragm pump used on the B21, B23 and B25 four cylinder petrol motors, so it bolts to the block and runs off a cam eccentric rather than from an electric supply. The flange I.D. is 60029, which is the number to check when the listing photo of the old pump looks close but not identical.
The usual failure is a ruptured diaphragm, and it fails in two ways: fuel into the oil through the diaphragm pin, or no delivery at all. Check the dipstick for a rising level and a fuel smell before you assume the carburettor is at fault, because a pump leaking into the sump will dilute the oil and take the bearings with it.
