Product Overview
Head gasket set for the Volvo Penta MD11C and MD11D marine diesel, the decarbonizing kit that supplies every gasket and seal you need when the head comes off one of these 23 HP engines. It replaces Volvo Penta 876376 and 875553 and corresponds to Orbitrade 21553 and Crom Marine 121049, and it is one complete set in a 22 x 30 x 1 cm pack.
The MD11 was built in large numbers for sailboat auxiliaries, and the reason the head comes off is almost always the same: hard starting, white smoke and water or compression loss at 0.9 litre displacement, usually after years of short runs and raw water cooling. Doing that job with individual gaskets ordered one at a time costs more in freight than the set costs in full.
The kit is the decarbonizing set, so it covers the head gasket, the manifold and water joint gaskets, the rocker cover gasket and the seals around the raw water pump drive. Anything the job needs to go back together sealed is in the pack; the head bolts and the thermostat are not.
