Product Overview

Hinge pin tool 91-78310 is the replacement part that draws the bell housing pin on Mercruiser Alpha One, Gen II and Bravo sterndrives. The carbon steel puller fits Alpha One, Gen II and Bravo I, II and III drives, comes in a 150 x 180 x 30 mm box at 68 g, and it replaces 91-78310, 18-9861 and 90200.

It is used to remove and install the hinge pin when the bell housing comes off for a gimbal bearing, a bellows or a shift cable. The correct puller loads the pin on its shoulder, so the pin comes out straight instead of being hammered through.

Hinge pins are usually seized by the time a bellows job comes around. Hitting them with a drift deforms the head and the pin then has to be cut out, which turns a two hour job into a full day. This is the tool that avoids that.
