Product Overview
Idle air control valve (IAC / IACV) — a direct replacement part for Mercury MerCruiser and Volvo Penta petrol sterndrives that fits GM MPI marine engines from 4.3 L to 7.4 L. It replaces MerCruiser 803149 and Volvo Penta 3843750, 3843751 and 3857696. Applications include MerCruiser sterndrive and inboard engines and Volvo Penta 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 litre petrol sterndrives, plus the 6.2 L MX and 7.4 L MPI big-block. The valve meters bypass air around the throttle plate so the ECM can hold a stable idle.
A tired IAC is one of the most common causes of a rough or hunting idle on these engines. Typical symptoms:
- Rough or erratic idle
- Idle speed that fluctuates up and down
- Engine stalls when coming down from full throttle
- Hard starting
- High rpm on start-up
