Product Overview
Ignition coil, a direct replacement for Yamaha two stroke V4 and V6 outboards from 115HP to 225 HP built between 1994 and 2009. It replaces Yamaha 6R3-85570-01-00 and crosses to Sierra 18-5128, and ships as one coil in a 150 mm x 100 mm x 60 mm box at 175 g.
This is the coil that fires one cylinder, not the complete ignition plate. It bolts to the block with its own mounting bolts and takes a single plug lead, so a coil that has gone down can be changed without disturbing the rest of the ignition.
These coils fail with heat and age rather than mileage. A cracked body lets moisture in, the secondary breaks down under load, and the motor drops that cylinder only when it is hot and working hard.
Fitment covers the 115HP from 1994 to 2009, the 130HP from 1994 to 2004, the 150HP from 1994 to 2009, the 175HP from 1994 to 2000, the 200HP from 1994 to 1998 and the 225HP from 1995. Check the model and year before ordering, because the later four stroke motors take a different coil.
