Product Overview
Flexible impeller kit replacing Johnson 09-810B, Jabsco 653-0001, Sierra 18-45713, Mallory 9-45713, Westerbeke 34440, Yanmar 128990-42200 and Volvo Penta 876097. It is supplied with the gasket and O-ring, and it fits every pump built on the Johnson F4 and Jabsco 29460 / 29470 pump bodies.
The one number that matters is 51 mm by 22 mm with 6 blades on a 12 mm pin drive, because this pump was sold under a dozen brand names. Johnson, Jabsco, ITT, SPX, BLA, CEF, JMP, Northern Lights, Westerbeke, Beta Marine, Volvo Penta and Yanmar all used the same body, and the impeller is the same part whichever badge is on the pump.
On a raw water cooled diesel the impeller is the whole cooling system. When the blades set into their folded position the pump still turns and still looks fine, but it moves a fraction of the water it should, and the first warning is usually a hot exhaust elbow or a burnt exhaust hose. Fitting a new one every second season is cheaper than a head gasket.

Before You Buy
- Measure the old impeller, 51 mm diameter by 22 mm wide, the F3 pump takes a 40 mm impeller and it will not fit
- Check whether the shaft is 12 mm or 3/8 in on the F4B, the pump was sold in both versions
- Check the insert is brass and not bare rubber, a worn insert will spin on the shaft
- Inspect the pump cover plate for scoring, a grooved plate lets water bypass the new impeller
- Lubricate the impeller with glycerine before fitting, never install it dry
- Turn the shaft by hand after fitting to confirm the blades fold in the correct direction
- Look for water under the pump after the first run, a weeping cover gasket is common after a rebuild
