Product Overview
Lip type sea water pump shaft seal, 28 mm outside diameter, 15 mm inside diameter and 7 mm wide, sold as 1 x seal. It serves the Volvo Penta 827247, Jabsco SP2700-1027 and SP2700-1027B, Johnson 05-29-105 and 05-29-105.0.2233.001, Yanmar x0529105000 and Sierra 18-2045 applications.
The lip seals the shaft where it passes through the pump body, keeping sea water out of the bearing and keeping the bearing grease out of the water flow. A hardened or nicked lip shows as water dripping from the weep hole under the pump, or as grease washing out of the housing.
It is a press fit part: the outside diameter goes into the housing bore and the lip runs on the shaft. Fit it square and grease the lip before the shaft goes back in, or the spring will pop off the first time the engine turns over.

Before You Buy
- Check the seal size on the old part, 28 mm outside and 15 mm inside is what this one measures
- Check the shaft where the lip runs for a groove, a grooved shaft will not seal on a new lip
- Check the housing bore for scoring, a scored bore needs a sleeve or a new housing
- Press the seal in square with a flat drift and grease the lip before the shaft goes back
- Check the weep hole is clear, a blocked weep hole hides a failing seal until the bearing goes
- Run the pump and check for drips at the weep hole after the first trip
